Dr. Jun (Steed) Huang is an Adjunct Professor in the Ottawa Carleton Institute for Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Ottawa Carleton Institute for Computer Science. He is also the Natural Sciences Engineering Research Council Trust Connected Autonomous Vehicle Program Coordinator. He has a successful track record in collaborative research projectswith academic and industrial partners across the world. He was Chief scientist for the Alphaba autonomous bus and 5G connected delivery kart. His research on the Network of Centres of Excellence AUTO21 has been continually funded by major car manufacturers, and he has worked with 200 partners including Apple, Microsoft and Blackberry. A wide range of organizations are using the knowledge generated in Dr Huang’s research including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Ottawa Police, Defence Research and Development Canada, Canadian Space Agency, Communications Research Centre Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency. He holds 85 patents across many disciplines including biotechnology, medical equipment, border surveillance, quantum encryption, AI, blockchain, and networking.
