On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Carleton University partnered with The Walrus to present Strengthening Canadian Journalism—a meaningful panel discussion about how we can advance representation and create a culture of equity, inclusion and belonging in the field of journalism.
The event was moderated by Nana aba Duncan, incoming Carty chair in journalism, diversity and inclusion studies at Carleton University, and featured four dynamic panelists:
- Candis Callison, associate professor, School of Journalism, Writing, and Media and the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies, University of British Columbia
- Arvin Joaquin, video journalist, OMNI News Filipino
- Reshmi Nair, co-anchor of CP24 TONIGHT
- Tara Weber, western bureau chief, BNN Bloomberg
