There have been considerable changes in post-secondary environments due to COVID-19 over the past several months. As a result, students have had to rapidly adjust to new online modes of academic instruction and unexpected isolation measures.
In an impactful new project, researchers in Carleton’s School of Linguistics and Language Studies are seeking to understand how COVID-19 related changes are affecting the academic and social experiences of autistic students, with the ultimate goal of supporting and retaining autistic students under rapidly changing conditions.

This project is designed as a partnership and collaborative effort with the autistic community that will adopt a community-based participatory research approach. The researchers are looking for autistic post-secondary students and/or autistic or non-autistic instructors to participate in the study and share their perspectives and lived experiences.
